Question
Why doesn't a shared account receive device notifications?
Answer
Whether a shared account can receive device notifications depends on how the device is shared and how the device is controlled.
The notification behavior is different for Home Sharing and Device Sharing.
If the Device Is Shared Through Home Sharing
For example:
- Account A is the device owner.
- Account B is a member added through Home Sharing.
- Device notifications are enabled in Account A.
The notification behavior is as follows:
How the device is controlled |
Account A |
Account B |
Account A controls the device remotely |
No notification |

Account B controls the device remotely |
Receives notification |

For local Wi-Fi control, the device must support and have LAN Control enabled.
Notifications Triggered by Scenes
If Send notification is configured as an action in a Scene, the notification is sent only to the account that owns the Home when the Scene is executed.
Accounts added through Home Sharing will not receive this Scene notification.
If the Device Is Shared Through Device Sharing
If Account A shares an individual device with Account B using Device Sharing, Account B will not receive device notifications for the shared device.
